Senior Pictures

WE had our Senior pictures taken.  The Goob because he will graduate from high school next year. The STP and I because we will turn 55 next year.  When I was pregnant with the Goob I did the math and figured out if I would be alive how old I would be when he graduated from high school. 37 seemed quite old.  55 seemed ancient.
We took a few different poses.
You know, to capture our personalities.
The Goob would have been happy with the "No Photo Available" yearbook option.
But you're only a senior a couple of times in your life.  And being a senior couple is a significant achievement.  And reaching senior family status is worth a picture or two.
And you are never going to be younger or better looking than you are right now.

Zephaniah 3:17

Weird that the song I think the LORD is singing over me today is "Build Me up Buttercup"?

In Spite of Me or I'd Like to Thank the Academy

The Goob was inducted into the National Honor Society.  Before the induction ceremony they asked audience members who had been members of the society to stand.  The Goob's parents remained conspicuously seated.  Some things you don't want your kids to know about you.

What we could have said:
Me to the Goob:  Sorry you had to find this out in such a public setting.
Principal to the Goob: It is truly remarkable that you have achieved so much despite your disadvantage.
Goob to the principal:  To what disadvantage are you referring, Mr Flock?
Principal to the Goob:  Your human mother.

One quarter of the way through the school year.  The only emotion I wish to convey is gratitude.

One Week Later...

Last Friday I was on the beach. Relaxing.  Wearing my bathing suit. Soaking up rays.
This Friday I was cleaning snow off my windshield to go to work.  Wearing my winter coat.  Itching and peeling skin the only remaining trace of my days on the beach.
And no one is really interested in hearing me whine about my itching skin-a result of spending a week at the beach.
Good thing I have already scheduled another visit to the beach.  Otherwise, a girl could get discouraged thinking about how Fall only lasted two days.

The Lane Sisters

Clearly, I am the tall thin one.
This one, originally deemed unacceptable, turned out to be my favorite picture of the four of us.  It includes several of my favorite things:  the beach, the sunset, and being with my sisters.  And yet we are not wearing our bathing suits.  It is not a sideways shot of our double chins taken across beach chairs.  You can not see our crooked smiles, our crazy eyes, our wrinkles or any silver hair.
Yea, we're still hot.  It just comes in flashes.

The Day the Earth Did Not Stand Still

Visited the Temple of Venus at LeDew topiary garden.
I handed my beloved iphone to CM to take a picture of her brother and me.
Unlike her GB, 6yo CM is not iphone challenged.
She not only knew exactly how to use the iphone camera,
but she managed to reel off about 20 pictures before I was able to wrestle my beloved iphone from her hands.
(Because GB doesn't run so fast.)
Of course it would have been easier to run if the earth weren't so crooked just then.

Addendum:
CM is also pretty good at photobombing.
Where do you think she learned that?
