We are in the process of refinishing the front porch and the little side decks on the house. Hopefully, the previous refinisher used a cheap finish which wore off in 6 months of Wyoming weather exposure. Hopefully, it was not the expensive stuff we are currently applying. Which hopefully will last a little longer. Here's hopin'.
After the STP sanded off the remaining old finish and applied the stain (That is the HGTV version of what happened. Edited to make it sound like it was easy and took about 15 minutes, so you have time to build a room partition and have your nails done before lunch.), we were ready to apply the water sealer. Which we bought at the same time as the stain and on the same recommendation from the hardware man. Which said on the can: DO NOT APPLY OVER RECENTLY STAINED SURFACES. Which led us to question just how recent is recently stained. Like last year? Like a week ago? Like yesterday? Like this morning?
So the STP's back is hurting and we decided the best thing to do was to wait a day, or two more. We don't want to be too recent.
The porch swing is currently in the garage, waiting for the recently stained porch to be sealed. I painted the little piano bench/table to set our iced tea glasses on. (I painted it to coordinate with my patio dishes!) Just wait a few days before you come to sit on the porch.
